Voting Question: Why can't I become independent?

I live with my aunt. I've been living from place to place and I need help!!!! I tried to apply to Delgado Community College here in New Orleans. Back in Houston, I put my father's W-2 information in the 2011-2012 FAFSA for University of Texas and all the schools in Texas. But Now it's 2012. The counselor at Delgado said I needed my dad's w2 info again.. why is that!? So instead, I did the 2012-2013 FAFSA without my parent information and I will have to try again at different schools. Like, 1) Rutgers 2)Louisville 3)Penn State 4)LSU 5)Alabama 6)Auburn What do I have to do next because I'm 20 and I don't want to wait til I'm 24 yrs old in the Fall of 2015 just to apply for school. I want answers from students and/or independents who are not necessarily in this situation but know different shortcuts and know friends or family members/co-workers who been in this exact situation and know just how to get by.
